Why do B&M stores struggle with their website functionality?

The one that cracks me up is when you buy something with Click and Collect and discover that the relevant department won't see the order until the next day and there's no guarantee that the item is actually in stock.

Admittedly they're getting better - big thumbs up to Noel Leeming who got a lot of my money recently.
