Ardern launched the initiative with French President Emmanuel Macron to international acclaim in 2019, when she was still prime minister.
The stated aim was to combat the spread of terrorist activity and propaganda online by seeking global cooperation from other nations, along with social media and tech giants.
It followed the March 15, 2019, mosque terror attacks in Christchurch, which claimed 51 lives and was live-streamed on Facebook.

A spokesperson for the prime minister confirmed: ÔÇ£Christopher Luxon met with special envoy Dame┬áJacinda Ardern┬ájust before Christmas to discuss her work.

ÔÇ£Decisions have not yet been made as the prime minister is waiting for advice from officials,ÔÇØ they said.
Asked to clarify when that advice is expected to come back and decisions made around the role, the spokesperson said on Monday they ÔÇ£donÔÇÖt have anything to add to the statement at this stageÔÇØ.
