Understanding Membership Levels and Roles
Staff
#1
Question
We use a system of levels attached to your membership account to reflect membership status.  It is intended mainly as a bit of fun but it also  provides a simple indication of a members engagement with the forum and it's members.

The Member levels are ...
  • No Posts - N00b
  • 1 Post - Rookie
  • 10 Posts - Recruit
  • 25 Posts - Apprentice
  • 50 Posts - Prodigy
  • 100 Posts - Superstar
  • 250 Posts - Elder
  • 500 Posts - Expert
  • 750 Posts - Guru
  • 1000 Posts - Maestro
  • 2500 Posts - Myth
  • 5000 Posts - Legend
  • 7500 Posts - Grand Master
  • 10000+ Posts - Ultimate Being

The only real significance of these membership levels (other than implied status) is the Recruit level, attained at 10 posts, which enables use of attachments and custom titles for the member.  Should these Levels not be to your liking, you are able to customise these yourself in the User Control Panel.

Behind the scenes, there are also membership groups .  Access permissions to various areas and functions of the messageboard are based upon membership groups. These are...
  • Guests
  • Registered Users
  • Trusted Users┬á
  • Moderators┬á
  • Super Moderators┬á
  • Administrators
These group roles are mainly self evident. Registered users are automatically promoted to a Trusted user after making 10 posts AND having a reputation of Zero or higher, consistent with the Recruit level.

Please note: For users who have no interest in Opinion and Politics, or the Covid 19 forums, we are able to exclude these from your messageboard view if desired.  This is not user configurable but please ask one of the moderators or admin and so it can be implemented.
