I learned how to cut my own hair thanks to youtube - simply put hair in pony tail close to back of the head at the base of the skull, then another scrunchie/rubber band nearer the end of hair, & cut between the bands about where you want length to be, using small strokes of scissors. Then you just take out rubber bands, check in mirror for any bits missed & that's it.

I started doing this as a result of the quakes when the $10 haircut bars disappeared & hairdressers wanted $ 40 odd for a trim - the Scots blood had conniptions
