I was just reading this article about El Salvador earlier, an example of how badly it can go wrong down this path...

In February, four women sat down before the full glare of El Salvador's press. Between them, they had served nearly 50 years in prison.

Their crime was to have the misfortune of suffering a miscarriage - in a country with one of the strictest abortion laws in the world.

Unbelievably cruel. Most south American countries tend to be catholic & so are often against contraception as well as abortion. Its an anti female religion in many ways.



This American says that what's happened there is against their constitution, because its essentially based on religious views. In his opinion, American conservatives have been planning & working towards  this for 40 odd years.
Very, very strange & narrow minded people who on the one hand claim 'sanctity of life' is what concerns them, while on the other hand ignoring that this idiocy will mean that woman will certainly die. Apparently, their lives aren't quite so important as is that of the cells with the potential to later become a baby.
