There's been a suspicious car fire in the red zone, close to the 'protesters' camp. And some of these plonkers have now set up camp in Latimer square again, with signs about 'freedom fighters' fgs. I suppose they have to see themselves like that - its that or complete & utter idiots.

"A car has been gutted in a suspicious fire, just 100 metres from tents making up part of ChristchurchÔÇÖs ÔÇ£freedom villageÔÇØ.

The campsite, in the Burwood part of the former residential red zone, first appeared just over a week ago.

The occupation has attracted the ire of both locals and iwi, who have accused them of ÔÇ£antisocialÔÇØ and ÔÇ£aggressiveÔÇØ behaviour towards residents, and of making ÔÇ£a clear attack on the authority of Ng─üi T┼½─ühuriri'ÔÇØ, which holds mana whenua status over the land.

ÔÇ£Our Parks and Reserves Bylaw clearly states that people cannot erect tents and structures, or park vehicles, on park or reserve land. They are also not allowed to remove vegetation.

ÔÇ£Now that the group is aware that they are occupying the land illegally, we expect them to do the right thing, which is to pack up their tents and structures, and leave the area peacefully after the weekend.ÔÇØ
