Theories include a derivation from the similar device made of leather that sealed oar-holes on naval vessels... Or a corruption of the word "vise", as in a metal clamp"

This was in Uruguay. The washers which roofers were putting under nails used to cost one peso each,. When their price rose to two pesos, they said ÔÇ£sod thisÔÇØ, and used peso coins instead."

in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)
