And no bugger offered me a lollipop either - never mind that I don't like them, its the principle. There I was being a dear, sweet, oldish, ladyish person doing the right thing & nothing!

The fact that they were clearly run off their feet is irrelevant. Smile
in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)
