As a list MP once she leaves her party she should no longer be in Parliament.  She should no longer be an MP.  She does not have any mandate to remain.
so if you are maori you are allowed to jump ships?

So many women MPs jumping ship... No wonder we get confused!
Thank goodness for Chloe...

I thought her response to that entire debacle was rather well considered. She will make a great PM one day.

So like Ardern, not really an apology.  Maybe next time don't just jump onto a post without understanding the context.   [Removed: Rule 8]

I know it must be soul destroying for you when everytime you get bored to tears with your usual perch and have to resort to popping in here for a bit of stirring, to be met with argument and stone throwing, instead of your well deserved applause and genuflection. It must be very hard to bear such an assault on your psyche, and I can only stand in admiration of the personal strength and resilience you must have in order to keep coming back time after time in the face of it. Good onya mate. ![]()

in order to be old & wise, you must first be young & stupid. (I'm still working on that.)

Also I find it interesting that my reference to reading comprehension is removed yet the poster I was replying to who referred to me as an "old woman's fart" didn't have the same consideration.

Back to the topic. Why hasn't that Green MP been removed from Parliament? She has no mandate to be there now she has resigned as a Green MP.

Yes, I've been wondering that too. Different questions for both of the current "jumpers" but both need to be asked. The one who is just a list MP now has no mandate whatsoever to be there so I can't see how she still is. And the one who has an electorate needs to formally resign from Labour and be an independent until the election. I don't see how she can represent the Maori party until the election gives her a seat.

This close to the election the electorate MP may as well sit tight rather than trigger a by-election but should resign from Labour formally. The list MP however should not be there.  She was appointed for the position by her party and if she has left that party she should be removed from that position and the next Green candidate on the list bought in as MP

I think list members positions are a matter for the Party rather than the electorate surely?
