You can never have enough...
Cold still, but the sun has arrived so not as cold as yesterday. Did a bit of washing & then headed off to get a pair of those 'heated socks' ( they aren't) for friend down south as I was sending her a couple of bits & pieces. I got a pair a while ago & they're really warm - at least the ones with a sort of fleecy fluffy feel to then inside are so as she's in such a cold area she can make good use of them.
Mucked about with a couple of photoshop paintings & had a bash at a small paint & brush one as well - it was that or sort more stuff in the workroom.

Coming home earlier I was just pulling into an intersection when a truck pulled alongside; the back door was level with my bike & there, sitting on the back seat with window down & looking especially Queenly was a lovely dog who glanced at me as if to say 'morning, peasant'.
That made my day Smile

I scooted down to Devonport despite the threat of showers, having run out of eggs and bread and needing a bit of human company. My favourite deli had fresh baked brownie wedges, irresistable so that and a big mocha was my lunch today. I called in on a friend on the return journey, she has terminal liver cancer, a rare type found among long term diabetics. She is taking part in a trial being run by an American pharma company who are genetically matching treatment to specific patients, and while it may not extend her life she is intrigued with the idea of being part of future treament potentials. And while I admire her courage and commitment immensely she assures me the moment her participation gets unpleasant she has told the docs she will drop out without a second thought. I still think she's incredible though, because even with handfuls of drugs each day she is wasting away and losing energy, and is doing it all on her own. So many of us end up with little or no family around us and it does make things harder when times get difficult. I am learning a great deal about courage watching her cope with it, with luck I will put that into practice in my turn.

Meanwhile, there are always chocolate brownies to be had. With cream.

morning ladies Smile Another fine morning this morning for us.

Don't you just love the way dogs look at us, Lilith lol. And boy, they love it in the car with the windows down that's for sure.

Your friend is incredibly brave, OHH. And very generous of her to use her last months helping others with the trial drug. I hope it becomes viable and worth her valuable time and effort.

Our daughter is in hospital on oxygen thanks to covid on top of her pneumonia. We can't go and help with the kids because of covid as well as being very careful with MrK's heart. So it's going to be long distance care by mum and dad with phone calls and texting. But we know she is in very capable hands in hospital.

Today I'll tackle The Wardrobe and hopefully MrK can do the measurements for the shelving while everything has been pulled out. And when the frost has cleared and the garden dried out a bit I can start The Big Rose Prune of 2022.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

I love it when people will do the drug trials etc. Without people like that we can't move ahead with medical improvements.
MrP has the 102nd Cow valve in his heart. Done in Auckland about 6 years ago I think it was. And we are both always happy to let students in on our appointments.
I will say when having the girlee bits checked with a young male dr to be watching on who looked about 18 still makes me wonder how I did it lol.. But they dont know if they cant see lol.

Oh Kiwimade I hope your girl gets well soon, I saw a post the other day but with covid on top makes it even harder.

Missy seems to be on a go slow this morning. Normally she gets up before me but she was on the bed until I was dressed. and she hasn't asked to go down to the garage this morning. Maybe she realises my pain is high today.

Saw a friend yesterday I have seen for a few months. She too has lost weight and we had the best hug ever. She said not only is my weight falling off but I look years younger. which is good cos I was thinking the same.. I guess its cos Im not so tired from looking after MrP all the time. We are going to catch up on Tuesday as Ill go around and have a wander around her gardens and see the bits her man has built for her.

When I arrived at the home yesterday they handed me a few sheets of paper with the months Menu on it.. Odd I thought lol.. I also had to sign for MrP to have his second Booster shot next week. None of the other inmates has a copy of the menu, so we wonder if its a "to keep me Quiet" thing.. But Im going to get a couple of photo copies and give them to a couple of my ladies and they will make notes if they have what's on the sheets and how it was. There's a page for comments, I dont know if they want me to put any on it. But Ill use a copy and tell them of the ones MrP definitely wont eat so its a waste of time and food dishing them up for him.

I hope to get in the freezers again this morning once the pills have kicked in. Im changing things around in the garage since I will have more room with 2 freezers gone. Need to give away the dryer too. It either needs a new belt or start button.

Listing wool this afternoon.

Have a fab day everyone

Good for your friend Hunni; without people doing those trials we'd know far less than we do.
My oldest friend has just been diagnosed with breast cancer, & is due to have a mastectomy very soon.

Just seen the clip of Lily Allen with Olivia Rodrigo doing the song fuck you at Glastonbury; with particular reference to the Justice idiots who have changed American laws & removed women's rights over their own bodies. Worth a look for anyone interested.
I really don't think those responsible understood just how very angry women are about their monstrous actions; & its by no means just American women & nor is it only women who are concerned about the possibilities this raises.

For those who remember GrandmaSue from Trade me. Her Darling Barry Collier died in his sleep over night. After 57 years of marriage.
His Service is in Cambridge on Friday, it will be a celebration of his life and dress is casual cos Barry never liked Formality.

57 year years? How blessed were they? A celebration indeed for such a great marriage...

Totall OHH.. They got married a few weeks after I was born.   Sue and I became friends via Trade me, and both had a mess of a journey with our hernia surgeries and long often crazy recoveries cos of Diabetes complicating things.

Barry was in a home for a short while but came home but has been none verbal for a couple of weeks.  Its been hard for Sue but she is one heck of a strong lady.

They both used to drive busses in the Cambridge area. And its probably that they and MrP paths crossed cos of the busses as he drove them occassionally too

Im not jealous, but love hearing about long partnerships.
My friends parents got to 60 years before each one popped off.

I never thought we would get to nearly 31 years marriage cos Hubby had been given 3 months to live when we met. So I simply wanted to have each of those days

morning ladies Smile And the fog is back.

I remember GrandmaSue on TM Smile I am so sorry to hear she has lost her other half. 57 years of marriage is indeed something to celebrate. MrK's parents made it to 60 although his mum wasn't well and passed away not long after. We swear she hung on for that special day. Anyone who has a happy partnership is very fortunate.

The wardrobe has been cleaned out and there is now a pile for the op shop and a basket full of our daughter's sheet music ready for her to take home. We phoned her yesterday and the doctor wanted to keep her in for another night to monitor her oxygen levels. We are hoping she can go home today but we shall see. She sounded a lot perkier too. Heart They are still deciding if they should come for the first week of the holidays.

I think I'll do some stitching today. It's foggy and miserable outside and I think with all the spring cleaning I have earned some time off.

Happy crafting Smile

Good morning.

It's lovely and sunny here, though I think it will be cool outside still.

A nice day spent in the Waikato yesterday ... the temperature plummeted as we drove through and could see lingering frost in the shady areas! Never minded the cold starts when living there, if it meant sunshine later  Smile

Glad your daughter on the mend KM, a double whammy for sure.

Long lived relationships are the best, it's great plenty of people do experience them.

Nothing particular planned, expecting some of family at some stage. Didn't get any craft done yesterday,  maybe today.

Enjoy the day all.

Our first fog this morning! Woke up to light and cool, herself let me sleep in before treating me like her personal trampoline, and after porridge for breakfast I am well set up for the day.

Eventually...

Morning everyone.

Glad to hear your Daughter is on the mend Kiwimade. When are the holidays?

Yeah I love hearing about Long marriages/partnerships.. They dont happen as long these days cos people dont do the work they take. and its too easy to get a divorce.

We have had rain overnight. Her highness had me pinned by my legs so Im up late. And creaky and I Blame her lol.

I was down playing in the freezers yesterday and Pat from next door came over, he asked how I was getting on re the lawns and the upshot is he said he will come do them tomorrow or Tuesday and then Ill be able to take over from there. So Kind of him and it will make it easy for me.

Spoke to my Fave brother in law for an hour yesterday. His wife wasn't home so wasn't chipping in the back ground. he and I are Kindred spirits, his birthday is a week after mine albeit many years as he is 82. But we always have so much fun together. He's doing well.

Might do some more listings today.. And I need to find a jewellery container that I know is somewhere "Safe" as I want to give one of my New Sisters a pair of earrings that belonged to my real Sister. I feel that close to the new one.

Wow sale emails are coming in as I type.. Awesome. wonder if it is one of my previous buyers lol.

Have a fab day everyone

And MrP is in hospital.

His sugars were low but they still gave him insulin.

Went to 2.1. And when they tried to give him sugar syrup he fought back. They tried to get a line in but he fought. so they got an ambulance. managed to get him to take some of the syrup but still fighting so they sedated him and took him to Middlemore. Which will make him even more grumpy.

Not looking forward to ringing him later. But its a lot of his own fault. And if he's not careful they will section him again. Never a dull moment

Good afternoon beautiful day in the bay - just waiting for my brother to pop in for a coffee on his way back to Palmerston for the next round of cancer treatment - have some stout for him Mum used to swear by it when she needed building up - even if he canÔÇÖt drink it will give him a laugh
My husband died the day before our 50th wedding anniversary - at the time it had very little significance I am sure I was just numb .
My Dad died youngish so my Mum had been a widow for nearly 30 years when she died - her last anniversary she celebrated was her 80th when she as 101 I think - wore her wedding dress and headgear for the occasion - still fitted perfectly but she had shrunk and it was far too long - we put on a party for her at the home she was in her element - my Dad was the love of her life from primary school

Ohhhh buggeration! Just when things were going well. I will keep my fingers crossed for Mr P, and all our other near and dears doing it hard just now. Makes me feel even more blessed that it is just the bones getting in my way these days. Long may that be the case!

It must have been hard for you and your Mum Jan. I was very lucky raising my daughter, we shared a big home with my parents and my father provided that male mentor role model for her. They adored each other.  Funny how life turns out, I certainly never intended to spend all these years as a widow, but I just never came across another soulmate. But I have to admit, life has been very rich despite that big hole in the middle -I remain however a huge fan of a long marriage! Next life maybe...

Hope Mr P comes right, not fun for anyone.

Sunny here but still cold. It was so cold the other day that I went & dug out some old footless tights which I haven't worn for years & put them on under my jeans. To think I almost chucked them out, lucky I didn't.
