You can never have enough...
Morning all,
Still on thunderstorm watch "we" have been awake since 2am with the shake panty boy k9s with couple periods of quiet I am tired. The girl k9 just plodding along.  The storm started 9.30ish last night I had to literally carry one boy out this morning  and stand over him to toilet he hadn't been for over 12hrs.

It is going to be a quiet day for me after some house work

DH  chipper but one of his wounds has bled overnight so sheet washing once he gets up.

Finished knitting baby blanket last night, started knitting a hooded cardi for DGD she keeps growing. I am trying to stay one step ahead.

Have a good day

morning ladies Smile And we have another wet day today. It's certainly getting pretty soggy underfoot.

Awww your poor dogs, mica. We haven't had the thunder (yet) thank goodness as our boy hates it too. Have you tried those 'thunder' jackets? Good to hear your husband is chipper, fingers and everything crossed they got it all.

I remember when Dad was living with us and stayed in a rest home in Hamilton for some respite care. He lasted one night. Packed his bags and called me to pick him up the next day. When he was asked by the manager why he was leaving, he said the food was crap. No mincing words from him lol. He tried another rest home, local this time, fell out of bed and I was never told. It wasn't until my sister visited and he told her that we found out. After he left, they tried to bill me for his medication (when they were supposed to be free for him). When I told them, no, they were free, I was told 'well what do you want us to do about it? We've been charged for this and have paid it' I was furious by this stage and was about to let rip when another woman intervened and said they would sort it. Both rest homes were supposed to have good reputations. When the 'how did we do' questionnaire came out, I happily told them how they did.

Today I think we will hunker down like every one else. MrK is getting frustrated he can't get into his man cave as it is too wet to work with the doors open for the extra light. On a sunny day though, he has the perfect spot. So the cabinet he's building is proving to be a slow project. I need to repot my clematis and I have some other seedlings that need planting out as well. My sister-in-law gave me six seedlings of Yesterday Today & Tomorrow. Am so glad to have it back in the garden as we had to leave our original one behind when we sold. But heaven knows where six of them are going to go. I could plant most of them along the frontage mixed with hydrangeas I suppose. I have seen them as a hedge and they looked great so will think about that idea.

Whatever the day holds, I'll do some more stitching. The first wing is almost done.

Happy crafting Smile

That is a plant I would love to have again, it is such fun watching the colour changes, another one would be the butterfly bush - but fortunately or otherwise, I have very limited space. Sneaking a few illicit trees into the borders will have to satisfy me, lol.

Morning everyone

We had impressive thunder and lightening about 2amish.. Im very lucky cos Missy knows it is happening but doesn't get upset or scared. its like "Ohh did you hear that"? and she goes back to sleep lol

The birds are here for their breakfast this morning, usually they come in the afternoon. Maybe they got kept awake too.

Some time between 1-5pm yesterday the caterpillar grew his crystalis.. Its such a pretty green. Ill do photos later. One of the small ones is either hiding or gone walk about.

Kiwimade just make sure those Yesterday today and tomorrow plants are well away from the furry one. They are very poisonous to dogs. Sadly something so pretty can be so dangerous.

Sometimes I just want to gather all the managers of these rest homes and put them in a home and see how they would like it. to be test dummies.. I dont even know what some of Bobbies lunch was yesterday. It looked yellow with veges in. I should have taken a photo but didn't.

I might plan a baking session, but then again I might not lol.. My stupid thumb just isnt getting any better. And Im not toddling off to the drs for them to say Oh you have strained it, take some pain meds.. Cos Im doing that already lol.

Have a fab day everyone

thank you so much for the hydrangeas, Roma! I'm sorry I never got a chance to thank you in person. MrK asked me if I was expecting some plants to be dropped off lol. He said he waved to the lady and she was gone lol.

I may have two or three new Rosemary plants coming up in one of the pots outside, not sure yet but will leave them be until spring & see about re potting then.

Took the dog for a longish walk this morning & she finally 'met' (touching noses through handle opening in their fence) the infamous Hunter. He's been around for ages & was friends with my previous dog. He was well known around the neighbourhood for often taking himself for a walk & sometimes called to say hello to my previous dog.

Going past a while ago I noticed they'd built a new 6 ft fence around their property so thought that would be the end of his little forays. It was - but only briefly. I saw him out & about a few times, & then not at all.
The next time I passed their place, I saw why - a large line of tyres carefully placed at the bottom of the new gate to prevent any exits - obviously, that gap under the gate was where he was getting out. Smile

Beautiful morning here in the Bay but still very gusty - everything in the veggiepod looks great but I donÔÇÖt realise broccolini took so long - lettuce and bok choy satisfy my liking for instant gratification
Met the parents yesterday from Ukraine - they only managed to bring very few things with them but she showed me a piece of her embroidery - a marker for her bible - stunning - Kiwimade you probably know what style it is - sort of gothic maybe - we have no shops here the closest is Spotlight in Hastings and their instore range is inconsistent - so have suggested she shops online - if there was a local shop of course I would suggest it - we had a huge emporium with an eye watering range of craft stuff but it was on a very valuable site and as the owner was nearing retirement she sold and the site became another fast food joint .Their English is very good but he will go back as soon as the Baker gets here - he only left the Ukraine to see the family settled - he is understandably very bitter - the children were at school but couldnÔÇÖt help thinking that I hoped he didnÔÇÖt speak in front of them like he was speaking to me - she said she thinks it will reunite Europe as so many countries have stood up and taken them in after they made it across the border but he is an entirety different kettle of fish - their family bakery was 120 years old .The kids and the bakers wife have settled in so quickly but they knew 3 years ago they were coming here - all their belongings are here the Mum and Dad have a backpack each
I was hoping Albanese would at least give some concessions to the families of the 501s who are left stranded after their partners are detained .There is very little welfare assistance for kiwis in Oz and these families are worse off than the detainees .Kiwis living in Queensland have set up groups to help these families out and often that is the only support they have - kiwis so often stick together
Not sure if I mentioned my vacuum drama - my trusty old meille started making a noise like a jet plane taking off - so unplugged it and blew pipes out etc - decided the noise was coming from the motor and after assuring the kids I had checked everything and because it was over 15 years old I was told not to bother getting it repaired so a new fangled stick one arrived - must say it is so easy to use - yesterday Robie arrived to take the old one away plugged it in and burst out laughing - the extra ends for corners etc go in the back opening but I had put it in the front and it had somehow sucked itself into the bag thingee - I can imagine at my funeral that will be added to the long list of my finest moments the boys will reminisce about with good humour I hope
Started watching Yellowstone on Netflix last night looked at the clock it was 1.30 I thought it was about 11 - am so tempted to turn the TV on now but impressing myself with my self discipline that was sadly lacking last night

I loved Yellowstone, and the prequel limited series. I do enjoy a good cowboy drama! And it is a great vehicle for our older screen stars which I also rather like!

I only discovered it after watching the 1883 prequel - not sure how I ignored it for so long - acting is superb - Caycee I think was in American Sniper

I can understand the Baker's father being very bitter. 120 years of a family business gone in a flash. The weight of responsibility must have been huge for him and for him to have lost it, even though it was through a war would make him quite bitter. I have seen Ukranian embroidery online and it's lovely. The Russian ladies also do exquisite embroidery but because of the war, can not post on FB anymore.

We loved Yellowstone and 1883 too. I believe there will be another '1883' but named another year and another series of Yellowstone is on the cards as well.

Tomorrow we are having an all day power cut as the maintenance people will be working on the sub station. We have around two or three of these power cuts each year. Fingers crossed it won't be too cold.

No problem, KM ... as I said, it would be a drop off and run with 3 lots of people to visit, my mum at visiting time!  I can't guarantee how/if the cuttings will take ... trial and error there!
A wet day with lots of traffic in the city to contend with, glad to be home now and rain holding off at last!

Anyone watched Outer Range? I am still processing that one...

Next series of Yellowstone comes out November and the next 1883 is being made at the moment .Is Outer Range on one of the streaming channels
Yes Kiwimade he brought tears to my eyes talking about the bakery - all his history blown to bits - he isnÔÇÖt too sympathetic to the west - I didnÔÇÖt argue with him it wasnÔÇÖt personal towards me - his heart is broken - I wouldnÔÇÖt be able to shut it out either - someone from the MenÔÇÖs shed contacted him inviting him to join them this week - itÔÇÖs just a few doors down from where they are living so it could be a real help

I hope so, poor man. It will take time for him to adjust no doubt but at least they're all safely out.

morning ladies Smile A wet day here and the power is suppose to be off from 7.30am - 4.30pm. We'll see as the weather is rough. Power Co's website doesn't mention it so maybe it's postponed until next Sunday.

We watched Outer Range, OHH, and it sent even this sci-fi fan's head spinning. I looked it up online and it's to do with time loops and travel. Surprisingly, MrK loved it and he hates sci-fi.

More time to stitch today regardless of power.

Happy crafting Smile

the power is still on so I guess it will be next Sunday now.

More rain o er night and more thunder at 6am, still stressed k9z but I suspect they might be getting a little more used to it. Didnt have to get their thunder jackets out so small steps.

Traced off some bigger patterns for DGD yesterday, DS and his family popped in, son measured up my table and 2hrs later returned with an insert so now I can finally quilt. Might have to wait a bit as my surgery is tomorrow and I will be laid up for a few days. Will cancel the insert I ordered way back in Feb .

Must get up had a wee lie in with a book

Have a good day everyone

It is horrid out there, so I just might stay right here till the sun comes back...

Or I would if it wasn't such a pain stitching while lying back on the pillows, lol. So maybe just till Jack Tame gives up beating up an idiot politician!

Morning everyone

Its dark and we are in the middle of a storm. thunder lightening and heavy rain. It clapped right over the house so Missy looked at me but I think she went under the bed. It was extremely loud. Normally it doesn't bother her.

Such a sad thing to lose all that history. Eventually his heart will heal. but I couldn't come close to imagining how he is feeling. Hopefully he will come around to thinking how lucky they are to be away from it. but I guess they would still have friends and family there too..

I've almost sold all the eyelash yarn I listed over the last week. So will do more photos later for the rest.

Missy has just come out. She's fine. So thankful it doesn't freak her out .

MrP had a bad day yesterday, he still wants to come home. But its still all about him. He doesn't care if I hurt having to look after him.
I realised my hammies are good now. It was all the bending over that stretched them.

Not sure what else I will do today but the washing should be finished soon.

Have a fab day everyone

Very pleased the dog & I went for an early walk while the sun was out as its now very cold, clouded over & getting darker.
Managed to sort out some more of the workroom yesterday & chucked out some templates I made years back & will never use again.

Until next week, when Murphy's law will kick in & I'm sure to need at least one of them!

Good morning.

Quite miserable and wintery outside today, a day to stay warm inside and find R and R activities to do  Smile

No wonder your dogs have been spooked by thunder/lightning Mica, I see there have been 18,000 lightning strikes round NZ over the last 12 hours! Thankfully not many here to scare my dog witless.

The situation in Ukraine is truly awful and it is hard to see how it will end ... whatever, such waste of lives and wanton destruction that will affect so many forever  Sad  I never realised how valuable the Ukraine economy is to the rest of the world, though I did know of their traditional, beautiful craftwork.

Enjoy the day all.
