You can never have enough...

morning ladies Smile  A scorcher of a day is on the cards so I have had the hose on the garden since 6.00am.  Thank goodness for our bore.

I've been reading online kiwis have heard the boom from the Tongan eruption.  Mother Earth is an amazing place that's for sure.  Just hope no one has been hurt.

Still working on my frog.  I have stitched my way to his mouth and am using long and short stitch so it's taking a while.  I'll take a photo of what I've done so far later and post it so you can see what I mean.

Time to move the hose and potter about outside for a while.  I need my  creative outdoor 'fix' in the morning.  I feel it sets me up for the day.

Morning everyone

Yeah not looking forward to the temp later.

I went and got take away's last night and the shop wasn't running the same way as the wind. It was sitting in an oven, even tho I was by the door. The air was sooo hot to breathe. Even the owners were struggling. Was the best fish and chips Ive had in ages tho.

My arm is spreading, so it looks like Ill be going back to the Drs tomorrow. but not until Ive seen MrP. He has asked to see the Manager.. Hopefully while Im there, but we will go to her office if we dont see her. Too many things are happening and not happening that should, and she needs to deal with it.

I used the shredder yesterday. Satisfaction to know that things cant be read.. Im sure I have more to do but theres no rush.

Still no flowers on the last rescue.. lol... Maybe it just wants to be the greenery in the middle of the flowering ones lol.

Have a fab day everyone..

And I hope like Kiwimade there is no loss of life in Tonga etc.

Good morning - much cooler here in the Bay - much more bearable and it sounds like we might not get the cyclonic rain which is good news - a lot of insurance claims havenÔÇÖt been settled from the 2020 flood .
Heard the boom from Tonga last night - thought it was something happening down the wharf - hopefully things arenÔÇÖt too bad in Tonga - Mother Nature sure gives us regular surprises - we WeÔÇÖre living in Taupo when the last big eruption occurred and so we were a long way from the actual eruption but the Tongan one was very close Taupo went instantly dark and we were covered in ash - I was at work it took me about 30 mins to get home to our house at Acacia Bay I had left the ranch sliders on the deck open so the dogs could go in and out - when I arrived home the dogs unfortunately had stayed out on the deck and where just mounds of ash - the vet treated them for about 3 days but they had inhaled too much ash and didnÔÇÖt make it - the insurance company were not happy with my open ranch slider that allowed all the ash into the house - must be diabolical in Tonga plus they had the sea to contend with
You and Mr P must discuss problems with management - you are also speaking on behalf of residents who canÔÇÖt speak up but may be having the same problems .Mums rest home was fantastic but some staff probably had chosen the wrong job and werenÔÇÖt quite up to it
My seed propagation is going well but I should have labeled them - no doubt when the grow bigger I should be able to see whatÔÇÖs what - the purple snow peas are easy to identify
My lemon tree is having a hissy fit - there are about 100 little lemons on the lawn - it is a big old tree - maybe itÔÇÖs suffering from the 30deg days we have been having - will mention it to the gardener when he comes
The frog sounds exciting Kiwimade

Exactly Jan, thats why I will go to the home before I head back to the Drs.

So much is happening and not happening and it needs to be sorted out. Like leaving MrP without a bowl in his comode when he has the runs...

And the lady that was left there without clothes etc is having problems too.. Some of the clothes I got for her have vanished..

There is one staff member that appears to have taken a dislike to the fact that MrP and this sweet little old lady have become friends and its trying to prevent them from even speaking to each other.

MrP has told this staff member not to go near him and apparently she's not liked by many of the other staff either.

Its not going to be easy, and especially when Im not feeling too flash but I need to be there for both of them.

I'm back inside, it's getting a tad warm out there.  But I have the washing out and back in again dry, done the ironing and weeded under the windows.  The hose is still going but almost finished watering.

Jan, it sounds like your lemon tree is stressed and needs a good watering.  Our lemons are dry as we keep forgetting to put the hose on it.  MrK leaves the hose running without a sprinkler so the water is going directly onto the tree roots.  This does the trick but we have to remember to do that at least once or twice a week.

I've taken a pic of the frog.  The fabric it's on is an olive green so it really stands out.

I remember when my Mum was in care lots of her things went missing, it was hard to bear and nothing I did seemed to sort it. Sometimes the staff selections are not very good and the residents suffer. Very stressful for family.

Nice to meet another ex Taupo person! I remember hosing ash off the garden and the window ledges when the mountain was doing her thing, and losing power during earthquakes, but still the best time of my life. Didn't hear any sonic booms from Tonga but I guess the city noise covers lots of low level rumbles.

Love the frog kiwimade...

Lunchtime! Omg I don't think I ever spent so much time online lol.. oh well.. it is Sunday Tongue

I was brought up in Turangi so know about the ash, earthquakes and volcanoes Tongue I remember the eruption you were talking about Jan. Mum was furious as she had to redo the washing lol.

Sounds like something needs to be said and documented, popeye. I think there needs to be a record kept of the conversations and resolutions that have been decided on. Fingers crossed for you both.

Love the frog Kiwimade.. He is awesome already.. You are soo talented.

I spent time living in Mangakino so Taupo was local for me too lol.

We were living in our mobile home in Taranaki last time the Mountain Blew.

We were coming up to Mango to see my parents and when we arrived the handbasin in the very back of the buss was covered in black ash, simply blowing in from the open windows.. Makes you wonder what we swallowed.

Thankfully being up here I feel much safer. I dont think there has been any volcanic rumbles etc in the Auckland area for many years.

We should be reminded Rangitoto is dormant, not extinct. Where Tonga is going we could go at very short notice - but that is the price of living on a city made up on so many volcanoes!

morning ladies Smile  Not a cloud in the sky this morning!

As per usual, I'm going to do a couple of small things out in the garden this morning.  I have some prunnings from our old hebe to cut into mulch and the lawn edges to finish.  Our poor hebe was looking sad, lanky and just worn out.  So I've cut it back and will see how it goes.  It must be at least 20 years old so I'm wondering if it's on it's last legs.

At some stage I need to buy another pair of leather gardening gloves.  I've worn the finger tips of my pair to a smooth, glossy finish so it's hard to  grip secateurs and other gardening tools.  They are great gloves though, flexible enough for me to weed and do general gardening and tough enough for me to lug concrete fill or grab a rose cane without being stabbed by thorns.

I'll put some time aside today to keep working on my frog.  Am very happy with they way he's turning out.  When I'm in Hamilton or Rotorua next, I need to buy more thread.

Morning everyone

A super clear morning and not over hot at all which is lovely.

Amazing what a couple of days can do. On Saturday I was thinking that Id need to go back to the Drs but the flare up is all but gone today. Very pleased and I am feeling better too. So Ive just taken the Vivid marks off.. what a smelly job with Nail polish remover. I dont mind the smell but close to the nose lol.

Ive prepped myself for this mornings meeting. Using highlighters in the homes brochures and making notes. I dont want to forget anything and as its bound to get emotional, it will ground me.

Our previous care giver also has some info on the place too that if I need to deal with head office she will help back me up.
Im not normally a complainer and seldom have to go this far. But repeated comments are not getting through. And it needs to happen. Theres 3 clients there with problems. not just MrP. And safety is involved.

Kiwimade I was telling MrP about your frog, so Ive taken a photo of your photo so I can show him.... Its one of the best parts about phones having cameras on them I reckon. I can show him things that he would otherwise not see now hes not at home.

Have fun in the Garden and with your crafts everyone.. Once I get past the house inspection I need to make a better effort and perhaps start a blanket. I saw a cool one on facebook yesterday. Although it was done in one piece. And the one I want to do next is in squares.

Have a fab day everyone

Cloudless here too going to be a another hot one.

Lovely day with sewing friends yesterday must talked too much as croaky voice last night.

Just come back from the gym its been 5 weeks since I last went and I sure felt that when doing my warm up on cross trainer.

Conflicted as to whether I start quilting or sew a top for me today. Should get quilting done really but the top is calling and I have to re organise my sewing room when quilting.

Glad you are better Popeye. Hope you get action at Mr Ps residence. Get them to send you a summary email of what you discussed so that you are clear that they have taken on board your concerns, take notes of agreed decisions.

I tired to post a photo directly on here the other day but it was too big KM what size do you reduce yours too?

5ime for coffee k9s just returned from their walk with DH

Have a good day

I'm back inside, it's getting too hot already for me out there. But I have spread the mulch from the hebe and the tree MrK pruned.

Mica, I don't reduce my photos but I use my camera, not my phone camera as I find I often can't upload photos from my phone to different sites. With FB I can only upload pics from my phone if I'm using my phone for FB and not from the laptop even though they have been synced with the laptop. Hate having FB on my phone so it can be a tad tricky at times.

Good morning.

A lovely morning so far, but we are expecting 31 deg today!

We still have family coming and going, so keeping busy until they return home again.

I have pulled out  a patch of beetroot and bottled, another lot not far off.  The first of our blueberries have been getting picked ... delicious straight from the garden. My passionfruit have been dropping at the rate of one every 3 or 4 days ... nice to add to cereal in the mornings.

Your frog is a work of art km. I haven't done embroidery for many years ... tempted to have another go sometime instead of knitting/crochet as my "go to" hand craft.

Good luck popeye with your meeting and pleased to read the infection has cleared.

Have a great day.

I am a bit of a quilt addict, and I particularly worship Amish plain colour works. I too vote for quilting. It will enhance the wonderful simplicity of this not so simple version. Love it.

I am trying not to indulge in more yarn, and it is too hot now to garden, so I have fallen back on adding to one of my artist books. It serves the added benefit of allowing me to edit my magazine collection on recycling bin day tomorrow...

morning ladies Smile  One minute it was the start of a sunny morning and the next thing it's foggy as heck.  It's what happens I guess when we have hot days and cold nights.

Mica, I love your quilt  Heart  It's so fresh looking and looks lovely and summery.  I'd go for quilting it and see what happens.  There are so many lovely quilting designs that can be quilted onto it and that will change the whole look of it and  maybe your thoughts on it.

Oh_hunnihunni, your artist book looks interesting, is that where you keep your ideas?  Kinda like a mood board?  I use a large artist sketch book for my ideas and designs.  It's useful to have everything together and I can track my progress and improvements.

How did you get on yesterday, popeye?

I'm moving down the frogs tummy and side now with my embroidery.  I've done the back stitching around the head and eye and the circle with the star in it.  I'll try and put more time aside for it again today.

The Furry One spotted a rabbit last evening but he was just too hot to bother chasing it.  I suspect the rabbit knew that lol so had a lucky escape.  The cheeky thing just sat there and nibbled what's left of our lawn.  It looks like I'm finally mowing lawn once a fortnight now.

Washing machine is beeping at me so I'll hang out the washing shortly.  Will finish my coffee first (my only coffee of the day so  I like to enjoy it Tongue ).

A bit of cloud about this morning

Started quilting DD quilt yesterday and SM skipping stitches while freemotioning, so etching happening with bobbin pick up. Strangly with feeddogs up it will straight stitch and zig zag fine, so back to SM hospital this today . Loaned DD machine but is low shank and the FM foot I like to use doesn't fit on her machine. But needs must.

Off into city today haircut and few errands to run then will  detour and take machine to tech on way home.
Quilting this afternoon, thank goodness it is cooler downstairs on these hot days.

Our k9s were very hot the old girl tipped her sheepskin off her bed last night I know how she felt.

I only have one coffee a day to KM and it has to be a good one Big Grin

Time to get sorted ha e a good day everyone
