morning ladies Smile  Another stunning day out there by the looks of it.

Omg those dammed aggies!  lol mica.  I peeked under the tarp not long ago and the blimmen things are still growing.
It's been months and months and months!  I'll have another look today as I will be pottering about in that area  at some stage today.  And surely 30 degree heat must have some impact on them.

Weed spraying is on the agenda, the weeds that grow in the concrete cracks and across the gate entrance.  My weed sprayer has died so I'll improvise with a squirter bottle until my new sprayer arrives.  According to some ladies in the rose group I belong too the Solo brand is very good.  There aren't that many to spray but it pays to keep them in check so the squirter bottle will do for now.  But I am over the cheap sprayers with dud nozzles that's for sure.  And MrK is over fixing them.

Yesterday afternoon I sewed a bag for my knitting needles but I mucked up the measurements and it's too small.  But our grandson could like it for his small dinosaurs as the fabric has dinosaurs on it.  Might even tuck it away and fill it with more  toy  dinosaurs and he can have it for his birthday.  Our daughter will be just thrilled to have more to step on lol.  Angel

When it gets too hot to be outside I'll show my sewing machine some love and give it a good clean.  It was sounding pretty rough yesterday.  Probably needs a good service too.

I must sort a design out for my embroidery.  I need something to do away from the sewing machine.

Happy crafting Smile

Lovely day here so got to get stuff done before it gets too hot.

Those aggies are certainly persistent KM pity you can't blast them out  Big Grin

Vax this morning, finish piecing quilt this afternoon.
Need to make up a quilt sandwich to show sewing machine tech what my tension problem is . I now have 2 biggish  quilt tops to quilt for DD and 2 baby quilts for me. The queue is growing

The one I am making is 2.5 m so a bit too big for me to wrangle so will take that to a long armer

Coffee finished washing machine is playing a tune

Have a good day everyone

Must be the season! I did our courtyard weeds yesterday too after the spraying contractor did a totally useless job on them a month back. His poisons couldn't dent them but my boiling water fresh from the jug has turned them all a nice toasty brown. That'll learn them.

Morning everyone

Was a lovely day yesterday. I didn't do a thing but watch cricket and potter around online. Doing some shopping homework for a friend who has just got into diamond painting.

I was going to go out late and trim off the tall bits in the front garden with the loppers but I know myself enough to know that I would have tried pulling things out and rehurt my wrist/hand. So I didnt.

My twin rang just after 7-30, sadly his wife had passed away, she was riddled with cancer.. And me being the twin I am the first one he talks to. Hard not being able to be there for him but he has stepkids and his own that will gather. It was also the 23rd anniversary of our eldest Brothers death. And it was only 10 days before her birthday.

Two games of cricket on today , so Im not expecting much to get done. lol.

We are going to be parents lol.... yesterday while checking the swan plant I saw several patches of bright yellow monarch butterfly eggs... I actually had to check they were eggs. Cos Ive never seen them before. so vet google helped.. Im as excited as a kid, but its something Ive never had before. Im going to do a photo diary of them.

Kiwimade what about using some black plastic over those aggies. The heat might build up and fry the buggers..?

Have a fab day everyone

morning ladies Smile  More hot weather today, I've got the hose on the garden again.  Even with the mulch it is dry thanks to the wind and  heat.

I didn't get to finish digging over the lawn part of the new garden so I'll get onto that shortly.  It got so hot so quickly yesterday I flagged it part way through.

We had our first meal of butter beans last evening, it's sooo good being able to p ick your own vegies.  And the plums are being picked daily now.

Yesterday I was sorting through my various patterns deciding which to sell on FB and came across an adult colouring book I had bought for embroidery.  There was a picture of a frog so I've transferred it to some fabric and am having a tutu with that.  I might sew anther tote bag with it when it's finished.

Time get cracking before the day is too hot.

A garden is such a blessing. Aside from the obvious benefits of food and beauty, mine also saves me the trouble of slaughtering passers by. My grandmother taught me as a child that there was an earth magic in the dirt, that only worked to heal bad thoughts, cross tempers, and sad hearts if we plunged our hands into it.

This past week I had an unfortunate encounter with one of my neighbours who is slipping into dementia. She has lost her social filters and is becoming aggressive, and on this occasion interrupted a private conversation and became quite unpleasant and disrespectful. I walked away, but could not rid myself of the anger I felt, until it kind of seeped away as I watered the mirabilis last night in the gloaming. Their perfume, and my delight at finding a pure white one among the many colours was a lovely counterfoil to my grumpiness.

Now, if only that inner peace lasts for a while, because I suspect I'm going to need it for a while yet!

Going to be another stinker of a day I think.

I did half of the front garden yesterday before I could feel the sun. And its already too late out there now. Considering I was just going to spray most of it, but cant now cos of the swan plant lol.
The big tub of old fashioned violets is suffering in the sun but I dont have anywhere I can put them really.

Im going into the sewing room today I think, its my dumping ground but it really does annoy me at times. I need to be ruthless and get rid of stuff.

Totally loved all the cricket yesterday but man I was getting confused with both the Bracewell boys lol.. Got there in the end lol

Give your violets a brollie popeye. A bit of shade is good for plants and people on these excessive sunny days!

That said we are watching a parade of big black clouds passing overhead, going north and out to sea to dump their watery loads, while the cicadas sing and the grass crisps in the heat.

Not worth bringing the cushions in, seeing we won't see any of that rain today.

morning ladies Smile  Another hot day today. When I got up there was wisps of fog and looking out the window now, it's very thick.  Won't take long to clear up.

Oh_hunnihunni, you are so right about the mental health aspects of working with soil.  Like you, I have been out in the garden angry and come back inside in a much happier space.  There is something soothing about working with plants and soil.

So much for finishing the digging for the new lawn yesterday lol. Oh well, will give it another go today.  The day just ran away with me yesterday but I felt like I had achieved bug*** all.  It was just one of those days.  I did stitch a bit more of the frog after I unpicked the bits I had done.  I decided to do padded satin stitch on his back and it looks much better.  I'm thinking of adding beads to this piece to add more texture.

Today I have to post some more patterns I've sold and I'll list a few more.  Hopefully the op shops will be open and I can take the pile of stuff I have sorted out at the same time.  I'll do that early too as it's blimmen hot wearing a mask.

Morning everyone

Yep warm already.. Overcast tho.

We did get 6 spits on Saturday when I went to check the mailbox but it was only cos I was walking in it that I knew it was there.
Off to see MrP today.. He wants his hair cut but I just dont feel like doing it, so he can wait another week. Im cooking him some pork crackle and its smelling normal but horrible to me today and my tummy doesn't feel right. .

I had a lovely time in the sewing room yesterday. I put a shelf back in one of the pantries and was able to get all my bead stuff on it with extras. And it looks much better in there. With 3 boxes and a crate for the garage sale. And I have thrown heaps of envelopes etc out to be recycled and have a box of old bills etc to shred when I get another shredder.

Nothing craft wise tweaked my interest tho. Even when I was putting wool away. I dont mind cos I seldom do much in the summer. I did sit and think man I have alot of wool lol..

morning ladies Smile  We have a thick, soupy fog outside this morning but I'm sure it will clear away soon.  I must admit it makes for a lovely cool start to the day.

The digging is done for now in the new garden/lawn and I'm confident I have most of the concrete slivers and stones picked out.  I have a small pile of concrete that we missed throwing onto the tractor bucket but they can go in the bin over the next few weeks.  The sparrows are loving having the dirt as their dirt bowls and there are little indentations where they have dust baths.  They did this three summers ago when I got rid of the concrete fill on the other side of the garden and MrK had the soil all raked ready for lawn seed lol.

I'm beavering away with my embroidery and am happy with the padded satin stitch along the frog's back.  It's a fun embroidery to do but uses heaps of thread with the extra padding.

Just a warning ladies about locking your door while you are outside.  My sister-in-law was watering her garden Sunday evening when her dog started barking and growling like crazy.  Someone had entered her home from the back and stole her wallet and car keys.  The dog chased them off but they still stole.  She spent yesterday cancelling cards, getting a new drivers licence and sorting out car keys.  They also managed to figure out her PIN number as her Covid card was in her wallet and her PIN number was her year of birth.  A lucky guess that cost her $$$$$.  So please make sure your back door is locked when you are working outside and your PIN numbers cannot be guessed.  And learn how to  block  cards using the bank apps  and to use 'find my phone' to lock your phone if anything happens.  You can use your laptop or tablet for that. (I used it to find my sister's phone Boxing Day).

Lawns need mowing so I'm off to get that done.  Washing is finished so will hang that out first.

Tis a nice start to the day. There has been some rain overnight.

Wow Kiwimade thats not good re your sisters. Im always super careful like that. Even tho we are surrounded by houses, thats not to say people cant come through other houses. I always lock the house up when Im work on one side and like when I take the recycle bin to the road. You can never be too careful. Costly experience too having to replace everything. I have the most random pin number ever.

The visit with MrP went well. We just sat and chatted while he ate his pork crackle. He told me later Im allowed a 2nd visit per week now. So I have t ring and make an appointment. Ill also ask them to get the manager to ring me to discuss a couple of concerns I have.

Off for my booster shot this morning. And get MrP some drinks and drop them off.

I ordered my shredder yesterday, she didnt say how long it would take, but Im hoping not too long. Our local office products depo was the cheapest of all the places I checked. And I like to support local.

Good morning all.

We are in for another hot day. Yesterday reached 30 deg ... no wonder the sparrow was seen with beak open and trying to work out how to get into the pet's water bowl. I do have a bird bath in the garden for them Smile

We had a lovely weekend away for the wedding attended. Perfect day for the ceremony in a reserve under the trees, babbling brook below  Heart

My passionfruit are ripe and falling off the vine ... if only there were 1000's, would make a fortune selling them, lol.

Might get out my amigurumi frog later and to finish, crochet his eyes rather than buy them as intended, my one bit of craft this week.

I have experienced the home invasion/burglary kiwimade, an awful experience. Though I wasn't there, (missed him by half an hour as he turned the power off) the door was bashed open and he grabbed as much as he could. Thankfully, our JR at the time was left in her kennel unharmed ... she would have created a huge din. I can tell you the experience has left us fairly paranoid (ask my kids) with regards to security  Big Grin

Enjoy the day.

It is one of the reasons I have no problem asking lurking strangers what they are here for. In a complex like ours there are too many vulnerable people to just ignore someone 'passing through'...

morning ladies Smile  Another foggy start to the day but that's OK by me.

My sister-in-law is still furious with her burglar but the police are on to it.  They have his photo from the ATM machine and know who he is.  Pretty easy to track him down seeing he's wearing one of those prison ankle bracelets Tongue  What an idiot.

Years ago when the kids were preschoolers, MrK took them to work with him on a Saturday morning so I could have a wee break from them.  I was in the living room, looked up and saw this big, burley guy standing in the kitchen.  This was before mobile phones and even if I could have phoned MrK, no one was in the office to transfer the call.  I picked the poker up from the fire place and asked him 'what the f*** are you doing in my kitchen?"  He said he didn't think anyone was home.  So that was OK to just walk into someone's home according to him.  I chased him off with the poker lol.  When he left I was too scared to even go to the loo and my mind was so numb I never even thought of calling the police.  It wasn't long after that we got our labby.

Today I plan to tidy up around the BBQ area.  MrK has trimmed the bux hedge but has left the mess for me.  Over time that hedge is going to be gone (MrK doesn't know this yet lol) and if the Furry One decides to dig another bit out while chasing a mouse, I'm not going to stop him  Angel

I stitched a bit more of the frog yesterday, I love it when a plan comes together.  It's all trial and error and sometimes even the best ideas can be the worst when our projects are finished.

A warm start but I think I have a bit of a temp and feel a bit grotty.. And I have a sore arm. The booster shot has affected the muscles in my arm. They always do, but the grotty doesn't normally happen.

Wow Kiwimade that must have been scary.. Years ago MrPs great nephew stormed into out house to beat MrP up. I called the police and grabbed the cast iron frying pan, and told him to get out before I hit him with it, while the cops were listening and trying to tell me not to. All cos His mother had told him a pack of lies.

MrP had a word with the manager yesterday and she was going straight to the kitchen, stale mouldy bread is Not ok to serve to a client.. She didnt ring me yesterday so maybe today. I thanked MrP for talking to the manager cos alot his age dont want to cause a fuss, but stale or mouldy food is not good enough.

Just going to take things easy today. Sort out the finances and write a shopping list.
