It has become apparent that the new neighbour is 'dodgy' and we need an outside security camera, maybe two. We have basic motion activated security lights outside and Arlo cameras inside, an earlier version that still has cloud storage, but have gone off the idea of the Arlo Pro 3 floodlight security camera because we don't want to pay for a monthly package. (Although if someone could explain whether we need cloud storage or not - that would be great).

Looking for recommendations for exterior cameras, preferably battery/solar operated rather than wired into the house. Thanks in advance.

The cheap and nasty solution would be a trail cam such as an Acorn. Small and innocuous with motion detection activation, black flash so not advertising its presence, time stamped video or still image stored on an internal SD card and runs on dry cell batteries. Some versions can be monitored online from memory. Google for local or offshore suppliers.

Thanks, never thought of a trail camera but it sounds ideal, being built to withstand the elements and easily hidden.
