Petition
#1
Here is a petition to revoke the right to silence in cases of child abuse. There are already two exceptions - Fisheries and white collar fraud. The police are helpless to act when the families clam up. They need more tools.

More needs to be done to protect young victims, and not just here but globally.
Australia held a royal commission into the way institutions handled cases of CSA back in 2015 and NZ is currently in the process too. Hopefully we see positive change. Thanks for sharing the petition.

Can the parents not be charged with failing to provide the necessities of life (or whatever the charge is)
After all, it seems clear that they did not provide a safe environment for their child.
Maybe that would be enough to get them and others to talk

Has anyone considered a hit and run?

IMO it is a fairly pointless idea to have a petition like this as it does not say that any of the involved will ever say the truth when it comes to child abuse.
I would put as much effort as possible in the support of children which are obvious abused or neglected. First of all to help them to get out of the situation the kids are in. I know some, especially the young ones, do not know what life whithout abuse would feel like and would never say a word. But it is the duty of all adults to tell if they know about such cases.
