If you're going to resurrect an ancient laptop then XP would be a much better option than Vista.

Still have an old IBM Thinkpad running XP which only gets turned on for a couple of non-Win10 tasks or a little old-school gaming. Solid as rock. Couldn't face myself if Vista was on there!
