Best Program For Chromecast Link
#1
What's the best (free) Open Source(?) program for sending my family videos through Chromecast to my TV from my computer? I'm running Windows 10 - any suggestions and help appreciated.

I've never done it but this is what it says on Google:

Cast music and videos from your computer
On your computer, open Chrome.
At the top right, click More. Cast.
Click Sources .
Click Cast file.
Select a file.
Choose the Chromecast device where you want the file to play.

Good luck.

when you open the cast option in chrome there is a sources button, here you can select other options, like a file or the whole desktop...

These are the official supported formats for casting
https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/media

If the file type is not compatible then you could play it in whatever player you have at full screen and cast the entire desktop

You shouldn't need any other software, but just in case I believe VLC can cast now and since it plays anything that should do the trick also...
