Well, I did a bit of exploring inside my 2021 laptop at it seems my Win 10 is the 22 home version eligible for this, but for the life of me I cannot remember my microsoft account password. In fact I have vague memories of having two microsoft accounts and finding sorting that out totally frustrating so abandoned it mid process... So, I am a bit wary of waking the giant again, lol.

Damn these monolithic tech beasts.

This I assume is the free version that  requires a MS account??  Does the paid version require aa MS account??

a good question, how will they actually know that the PC has a paid ESU if the PC has a local account?

From that link
Quote:The ESU license is tied to your Microsoft account, so you may be prompted to sign in if you typically sign into Windows with a local account

I'm guessing that means you WILL be required to sign but it might be only to to confirm the ESU license. Be a bit rude to force you to sign in with the MS account when they offer that option for free, but hey, this is Microsoft so who knows.

also I note in the FAQ it's valid for up to 10 devices..

I'll take a hundred years of ESU for Windows XP, or I'm staying on Linux. Tongue
