"Barrow Council had more than 190 expressions of interest to run the Ship Inn and Piel Island, located half a mile off the Furness coast.
The council said Aaron Sanderson, an electrical team leader at BAE Systems Submarines, is its preferred bidder.
If successful, he would be crowned the King of Piel by having alcohol poured over his head.
The 33-year-old, who plans to move to the island with his partner Anita Palfi, said he could not get the idea of taking on the pub out of his head having visited the island "many times" as a child."

a cheap bottle of chateau rumpole? a nice vsop brandy perhaps?
a purple goanna? or a flaming green lizard?
advocaat would beneficial to the hair and scalp as well its kingmaking propensity.
beer would make one smell like a parisian pissoir and we've all seen tequila outcomes.
i think im going to run with a methuselah of veuve cliquot

They'd probably use the cheapest stuff they could get. There used to be on here years back called Purple death, which claimed to have been strained through dirty socks - I tried some once just to see what it was like, it tasted like cough medicine.
