Did anyone see this on the news tonight, knitting as an art form on a very large scale. I wish they had touring exhibitions.

morning ladies Smile A 'rinse and repeat' day with sunshine today Smile

I saw that on TV3 news, mica and they didn't say either how long it took for her to knit it. Just amazing what comes off the needles isn't it. But she had been planning it for quite some time.

OHH, you are so lucky to have a friend who knits 'too big', those socks sounds gorgeous. Sock knitting isn't my forte, I've knitted one and a half pair lol. That was enough for me.

The Furry One caught another rabbit yesterday so no food for a day or two for him. He was so chuffed with himself, I swear he was strutting lol.

One more totara fence post to be dug into the garden today. I couldn't manage the last one yesterday so will get it done shortly. Then the dahlias are 'done', early I know, but I wanted to get the posts in before the weather changes and the ground gets too cold to work with. We'll borrow a friends trailer this week and put some nice soil down for the new lawn. The birds will be peeved lol as they have made lovely dust bowls in MrK's perfectly raked soil.

We have loads of the little blue butterflies around at the moment. I haven't seen this many for years and they are so delightful. Brings back many happy memories of seeing them as a child. Because I've stopped spraying all the insects are coming back into the garden. They particularly love flowers on the lawn so the lawn is covered in butterflies. When I walk on the lawn I have them flying around my feet. When mowing yesterday I was saying, I'm sorry lol.

Ironing to do today, there's a large pile that needs doing. The joy of having a smaller home, ironing needs doing so everything fits in the cupboards and draws. And I must stop procrastinating and work on the falcon. But while the weather is fine, I'd rather be outside.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

Another nice day here today too I think. Loving the cooler temps tho. I feel human again.

I heard a Tui yesterday, first time for ages.. Its like the birds have all gone. Although there is one Mam thrush who comes for bread. But we used to see a lot of birds around here.

My Monarch eggs never came to anything and they have layed a second round. I wonder if the grass hoppers or something else are eating them. Cos Ive seen grasshoppers on the plant.

Still no flowers on my mystery geranium lol.

I ended up in Pukekohe yesterday on a Cat Mission. I managed to get two bags of litter and some of the green sachets Missy eats. but no one has the white sachets and slim pickings on her kisses too.

Ohh JanW I got a box of the Fisherking fish and chips and will have them later in the week. $3-99 is rather good for two fillets and chips.

Im baking today. Its cheaper to bake than buy biscuits for MrP.. So melting Moments and peanut brownies for him. Choc chip peanut brownies for me and Im trying out a new recipe for Anzac Biscuits. they are meant to be crunchies ones for both of us.. I should say All of us cos MrP supplies Bobbie out of his stash lol

Ive got the next Missy picture Pressing in MrPs room on the floor.. Where said cat cannot get to lol.. Ill make a start oneday this week most likely, but I might wait till my new pen arrives. Its bigger for arthritic fingers.

Im going to go to Mitre10 and get some cord for the weed eater and start working on the Hay lol... The grass is soo long, my fault and cos I havent had the money to get it cut. So it will be a big slow job but Ill get it down.

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 10-04-2022

Good morning.

A lovely day ahead. Enjoying the cooler nights, though 2 nights ago a speeding car accompanied by lots of squealing (braking/skids) up and down the local streets in the early hours disturbed the neighbourhood's sleep! We all were waiting for the crash (several people asked if we heard it) Rolleyes Sad Angry The tyre marks have  been left behind in quite a few places, we see!

Getting prepared for the family all being in the same town over the holidays ... here's hoping if it rains, there are plenty of outside days to go with it!

Love the sound of those cosy socks OHH, I used to knit my kids' sox when little and have done for myself ... we lived in a COLD area with plenty of frosts! I am making progress with my crocheted baby blanket peggy squares ... I do them at night in front of TV. Will need to work out size and organise block patterns.

I didn't see the knitted skeleton on TV .... some achievement!

Time for doggy walk ... still haven't made time in the kitchen for baking either!

Have a good day.

I am very lucky with my socks for sure, and they are very special too for me because Ali got a pancreatic tumour and died in October 2020. She was only just 66 and I miss her dreadfully. Lots of people do I suspect, because she was a real mover and shaker in the fibre arts craft world, teaching, exhibiting, judging, and always on committees leading and organising.

Anyway, time I got moving too. Someone bought one of my overgrown pothos plants and I have to put it on the doormat for collection and organise a jar for the money, which of course I will fritter away on wine and whittakers, lol.

And now one of the better behaved slower growers can move into the macrame hanger in the window...

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 10-04-2022

We went for an early walk this morning, then came home & made more roast tomato soup for freezer - may have overdone it a bit, feeling knackered now but did a bit more on current painting; not sure I like it but we'll see.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 11-04-2022

morning ladies Smile  What a temperature drop this morning but we're in for a fine, calm day again today.  The cyclone is due to hit tomorrow and over a few days.  The rain will be very welcome, just not any wind.

The last post is in the ground and the last dahlia in it's permanent position.  I don't bother lifting them for winter as I forget to replant them lol.  I've moved a few smaller plants that were being smothered and now I can see what's what and where I can plant in the spring.  A bit more pruning when the salvias are done and the autum clean up is pretty much done.

MrK finished my embroidery frame's stand yesterday.  Well, the building part anyway.  He needs to put the polish on it and said he will do that today.  His polish is a mixture of melted bees wax and danish oil.  Just gorgeous and soft and gives a beautiful sheen to the timber.  I had a tutu with it yesterday afternoon and why oh why didn't I have a stand years ago!  It's brilliant as I'm not struggling to hold the frame while I stitch and I can keep a much more even tension.  I can also sit back and see exactly what's what at eye level and move it to the light.  I can also adjust the height of the frame and flip it over to work on the back of my embroidery.   It's going to be well used, that's for sure.

Lilith, I think we all go through those thoughts as we work, this isn't working, this isn't what I thought, this isn't good enough.  Trust your process and instincts.  Sometimes these works turn out to be the best.  And you have the added pressure of it being used in a calendar.  Breathe!   Heart

Gosh the bottom of my coffee mug   Coffee   comes round quick lol.  Time to get cracking and enjoy this last day of sunshine we'll be having for a while.

happy crafting Smile  Sun

Morning everyone

Tis a nice chilly start... And very calm.

I had a nice day of baking yesterday.. And the new Anzac recipe is Wonderful. The best ones I have made Ever lol So Ill be writing the recipe into my book and crossing out a previous one. Crunchie on the outside and slightly chewy in the middle. Although they might have firmed up overnight. I will see. The thing that helps is that once you take them from the oven you leave them on the tray for 15 minutes to firm up. So I was rotating three trays . Yummmm .

Love the frame Kiwimade. I had one similar and it sure makes things easier. Your man has done a wonderful job of it.

Off to see MrP and Bobbie today. And deliver the goodies lol.

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 11-04-2022

Morning ladies
Mild here today

Just returned from gym session intervals and upper body today and I am kn.......kerd not fit Confused

Quiet day yesterday sewed a cardi for DDIL from lovely blue merino/tercel fabric. Hopefully a wearable toille as this is first time I have used this pattern for her.

Not sure what I will get up to today got vacuuming and floor washing to do will probably clean my machines to like to give them a good vacuum once a month.

Knitted the other sock last night, might give magic loop a go next time to see if it is easier than using 4 DPNs

KM frame looks good and will be a long term asset to your creativity. MrK is a talented man.

Have a good day

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 11-04-2022

It will be a scooting day for me seeing the forecast for the next few days is a bit stink. And I need to sort out the pile of mirabilis I pulled out of the garden to let a bit of light into the bulbs underneath. I'm thinking of putting a couple of hydrangeas in there for next season, they might like the shade under the peach tree, and the few mirabilis left behind can come up through their branches...

But we'll see how far the energy takes me.

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 11-04-2022

Kiwimade, I know you're right & I try to remember Vincent Van Gogh's comment on it: "If you hear a voice within you say ÔÇ£you cannot paint,ÔÇØ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced. ÔÇô Vincent Van Gogh'.

Then there's Gerhard Richter who says that if you don't like what you're painting then keep going until you do; he calls it unpainting. Smile

I managed to do another one which so far, I like slightly better so we'll see how it goes.

The dog has had a wonderful morning; the bloke came to clear the guttering so she's been supervising - lucky he likes dogs. Apparently it was a huge effort as she's sleeping to recover.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 12-04-2022

morning ladies Smile Batten down the hatches, here comes Fili. It is so calm here this morning, hard to believe we're expecting the rough weather later today.

I love those quotes, Lilith Big Grin especially the 'unpainting'. The long and short embroidery stitch I'm using is often called 'thread painting' and I 'unpaint' a lot! lol. Your dog sounds like ours, it takes a lot to 'protect' our property from rabbits and other vermin and by mid afternoon he's knackered too. And heaven help anyone who comes to do any work for us, they are 'supervised' too. As for the bin man, the poor guy gets barked at as if he's stealing from us lol.
.
Today I'm meeting our son in Hamilton. I have some towels and other bits and bobs for him. One of my sisters-in-law is downsizing and had new towels she would never use. She offered some of them to me for our son which was lovely of her so they are finally making their way to him. I might as well get groceries while in Hamilton and might have a quick peek at Spotlight.

Better get cracking, will check the Gaspy app first to see where the cheapest petrol is this morning. It's a very useful app and uses GPS to find the cheapest petrol closest to where you are.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 12-04-2022

Good morning.

Overcast and hoping Fili doesn't wreak too much havoc! Some rain would be good. Google photos pop-up showed we had heavy rain/flooding 5 years ago today!

Busy yesterday with grandchildren duties. Today have to be out for errands/food and a meeting,  so I imagine this afternoon will be inside activities.

Have just seen Britney Spears has announced to the world she's pregnant! Some people will never learn to opt for a quiet life  Rolleyes

Have a good day.

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 12-04-2022

Clean and tidy up day yesterday pro ably won't get  uch done today as have  medical stuff this afternoon
Want to sew some new nightwear for me next will have to drive into the stash to see what I have.

Our k9s are all go or blabbed out doesn't seem to be a middle gear  Big Grin

Keep safe everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 12-04-2022

Morning everyone

Its dull here and a little wind but nothing out of the ordinary Yet. After 10am would suit me for it to hit the fan so to speak lol. Have my annual diabetes check and flu shot today. Im bang on the preferred target for my numbers which is awesome

I have a feeling Gull will have a discount day on Thursday for the long weekend Kiwimade. But I also think skipping the holiday traffic is worth the little extra. I will top up this week for my appointment at the end of the month with the Mammorgram and cardiology appointments.. They surer know how to keep us busy lol.

Woke up at 4-15 with massive pain so took pain meds and did mange to go back to sleep. Im considering taking the sheet of timber out of the bed and see if my body prefers its softer now.. But Ill do it when I change the sheets again since I just did that lol.

I was going to wait to start my second Missy picture but after seeing MrPs one yesterday and then having the blank spot on the wall I expect I will start it later today. My new pen is on its way so hopefully it wont take the average 4-6 weeks to get here from China. Only a 3rd of the price of getting one here when you consider postage as well. When its free from China.

I have quite a few new towels Kiwimade, I see them and think when should I start using them... trouble is the ones Im using now are fine lol.. but I dont want to get to 70 and the new ones still being there unused lol. Im a bit like my maternal grandmother.. My parents got them a new dinnerset and when they gave it to them they took the old chipped one away so they Had to start using the new one lol

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 12-04-2022

I opted for extra firm when I bought my new mattress, and added a slim memory foam topper to just take a bit of the stiffness out. It works really well for me, but doesn't stop the swearing when I stretch the wrong way or turn over without thinking it through. I do love the mattress though loved the 60% off too!

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 13-04-2022

morning ladies Smile We have nice steady rain today. I hope Gisborne and the Hawkes Bay aren't flooding again.

After both of us suffering from bad backs, we bought a new bed about four years ago. Was the best thing we ever did. Bought it in a sale at 70% off and then replaced all our bedding as more sales came around. Our vet took the old woollen blankets and the 30 year old worn out woolrest for the dog kennels. My only 'complaint' is that the bed is quite high and the mattress is really heavy for when I tuck in sheets and blankets. But it is a good firm mattress and hardly any back problems now for both of us. MrK is going to have to build a ramp for the Furry One though as eventually the Furry One will get older and won't be able to jump on the bed.

My clematis seeds have been in the fridge for two weeks now and they have swelled beautifully. Today I'll pot them up and fingers crossed I have at least one clematis to plant out in the spring. The instructions on the packet say they are pretty erratic so I don't expect them all to germinate. Would be wonderful if they did though. I have the perfect spot for a clematis where not just we can see it, but passersby can too.

MrK has his flu jab today so we can cross that off our to-do list. The doctors surgery is really busy and they have changed the entry rules thanks to Covid.

I suspect today will be an embroidery day. Probably a good thing as I haven't spent much time on it lately.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 13-04-2022

Good morning.

Steady rain here also ... the main pain is getting pooch out, not sure how umbrella friendly it will be out there! Might need gumboots, not usual rainwear ... jandals!

Yes,  can relate to the heavy mattress for tucking in sheets,  also have to make sure the fitted sheet has a deep drop. DH needs to support his dodgy back with a decent bed/mattress. Sales are great to take advantage of  Smile

Puss cat is sitting next to me, no doubt annoyed he can't go out ... I see he has another notch in his ear ... might be a good thing to stay in!

Craft day for sure (or housework) but first need groceries ... I didn't get there yesterday.

Have a good day.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 13-04-2022

Morning everyone

We have had rain overnight but nothing at the mo. I think we pretty much missed it. Like usual lol.

The mattress I have is nice but too soft.. I woke extremely painful again this morning. I might have to talk to my Dr and see if Winz can help cos its not a great life taking pain meds at 4am in the morning barely able to walk around the bed to go to the toilet. I love the soft cushion top on this one it feels like your sleeping on air but its certainly not being helpful at the mo.

I have people in Gisborne who are watching the weather closely.

My Sister in law used to have a huge Clematis plant over an archway. It was lovely but always covered in bees, it was by the stairs to her side door so I would walk down the other side of the driveway and go onto the wee porch from the back lol

MrP said they weighed him again yesterday and he is down to 90.2 kilos so more weightloss. Id already had a horrible day and learning that just broke me. He said they didnt have tea for him and Bobbie so a nurse had to ask them in the kitchen to do something for them. they got a sausage roll. About 2.5 inches long and that was it. I just dont know what to do. But a friend suggested talking to Age Concern so Ill give them a call before I go up this morning. The home is likely to get a blasting if they cant give me a legit reason for doing so.

Have a fab day everyone.... I suspect mine will be crappy again
