On YT: Mr. District Attorney (1941) Screwball, Crime, Drama, Film-noir; Peter Lorre in another sinister part; clever dialogue; great fun.

I have had a run with Aussie movies and tv series lately. It might be the 'closer to home' thing but somehow many of their offerings rank higher for me in quality than American, and nearly reach the best of the Brits.

But maybe that's just my choice of genres...

We've now watched both Matrix Resurrection and Don't Look Up in the last week. The parallels between them and to current global affairs is thought provoking and more than a little worrying.

I watched Ride like a girl, not bad if slightly predictable.

And still watching Shameless USA in between other stuff.

On dvd, The Bishop's Wife, with Cary Grant, David Niven, Loretta Young, 1947.

"A debonair angel comes to Earth to help an Episcopalian bishop and his wife in their quest to raise money for the new church."

Beautiful, happy film.

I rather like David Niven - his books are hilarious.

Nothing @ moment, will watch Nanny McPhee  later this evening, with two actors I admire in  Emma Thompson & Colin Firth

Counterspy Meets Scotland Yard, 1950 American film noir B movie: when enemy agents obtain leaked secrets about a guided missile system, an American spy and a British investigator are teamed together to find the source.

Passable, filled in an hour or so. Smile

On YT, The Saint S5 E19 "To Kill a Saint", 1967: with Annette Andre who I remember best from Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased): slick, clever, amusing; always with the eyebrows, Roger Smile

I saw it last time round, definitely impressive & I really don't understand why they've not advertised that its going to be on.

Having just watched it on Prime it looks good but it appears they've decided to give episode 1 a miss and go straight into #2, unless it played earlier elsewhere. Never mind I'll grab the whole series and watch at our leisure.

I'm watching Pie In The Sky at the moment, onto season 2 now. Ah, detective stories with no blood and guts, just pastry and mushrooms. In the kitchen with Harry Potter's step Dad.
