RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 22-07-2022 Good Morning everyone Sunny but chilly here. Will have to plug the karcher in today. Have fun pruning Kiwimade, heads being chopped off voodoo style is good for your soul lol. Im hobbling around like Im 110 today lol.. I cant very well say 90 cos Bobbie is 87 on Sunday and Pat next door is 90 later in the year and they both walk better than I do at the mo lol. Will wrap Bobbies goodies up. Of course I forgot to get a card so will do that on the way up to visit them. Giving her a shower Gel, pretty talcum powder, a pot of Body butter passionfruit flavoured and a couple of Lip balms. The sort of present I like myself. Ill take my pen and write on them once she has opened them. My friend in Taranaki is going to look in her spotlight and see if they have the pattern I couldn't get here. I am Very tempted to ring Manukau City Spotlight and see if they have it. But Ill wait to hear from my friend first. MrP was a Happy Chappy last night he had 2 sausages a pile of mashed tatties and mixed veges for tea. I do so enjoy our chats when he is in a good mood. Will oil the overlocker when I get home so I can use that again. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 22-07-2022 Popeye you could try ordering pattern on line for pickup. another nz source Pattern Postie, check TM RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 22-07-2022 (22-07-2022, 09:09 AM)Mica Wrote: Popeye you could try ordering pattern on line for pickup. another nz source Pattern Postie, check TM Thank you Mica Ive not heard of Pattern Postie. Saved it until I hear from my friend. Thank you Mica. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 22-07-2022 Ohhhh dear. A bit of sniggering happening here too lol One non mask wearing rest home manager has covid. Lol. I have the sympathy of a Gnat for her Lol... RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 22-07-2022 Good afternoon.  Gorgeous day as I soak up the sun while feeling a bit blah after the booster, water in hand. DH carrying on as normal, not even a sore arm   Postie Patterns new to me as well, good to know about.  I hope you can get one Popeye. I know of a family having to start isolation while on holiday down south, having tested Covid +. As if air travel isn't bad enough at present, I wonder how much super spreading going on! Poor teachers next week! Good day to prune KM. We started pruning back a few frangipani trees a week or so ago, more to do ... they grow like weeds,  but lovely to have in the garden.  Enjoy the day. Irresponsible Manager ... no care towards the residents. Karma indeed! RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 22-07-2022 What a brilliant day! Sun's shining, roses are all pruned and both of us tested negative on the RATs test RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 22-07-2022 (22-07-2022, 02:10 PM)kiwimade64 Wrote: What a brilliant day!  Sun's shining, roses are all pruned and both of us tested negative on the RATs test Glad you are both Negative... She shouldnt have been allowed to be there without a mask .Since the staff and Visitors had to RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 22-07-2022 Next thing you'll hear her telling everyone it was just like having a cold, lol... RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 22-07-2022 So the non mask wearers have covid - whoever would have thought! It's eldest great grandson's 5th birthday tomorrow & granddaughter asked me to make some cream puffs, so yesterday I set about it, made three batches. Not one of the damn things rose properly so decided that perhaps the flour had been sitting in the cupboard a bit too long, or the eggs were a large size which might have made the mix wrong. So this morning I went out to get both, in the rain. Which stopped approximately 10 seconds after I came home. More cream puffs made - & the next two batches had the same trouble. If I hadn't had the next ready I might have given up at that point but lucky I didn't because that one was perfect, as was the next. Excellent, thought my luck had changed, but no - the next lot were duds as well. The dog - & the birds- will be happy about it anyway. And the sun's finally come out. Thats Im hoping she gets a massive dose of it so she understands what all the oldies went through RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 23-07-2022 morning ladies Another fine day on the cards today. We're planning today to finish pruning the plum tree and that will be the last of the winter pruning done. I have the last of the aggies needing to be dug out. It's a huge clump but in spite of its size, it should be easier than the clump I have been trying to kill for a year now. Once gone, I can use the space for a Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow shrub. It will have to wait until the bins are empty though as they are full of rose prunnings. The heavy work in the garden is slowly becoming less and less. yummmmmm cream puffs I haven't had a cream puff for years. Your granddaughter made a good choice there, Lilith. Has anyone made sushi before? We've been given a sushi mat so I thought I would give it a go seeing as we both love it. Can't be too hard to make. The butterfly is almost finished, one and a bit dots on the last wing to go Happy crafting RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 23-07-2022 I wandered round the garden a few days ago on picked a couple of ripe seed capsules from one of those lovely shrubs, in the hope I could start a few versions of Yesterday Today and Tomorrow myself kiwimade. In full bloom it is so cheerful and lovely shades of blue. I also picked up a spray can of a nice satin mid blue Rustoleum two in one to repaint my outdoor furniture as soon as the longer warmer days allow, and as we sat at the courtyard table having coffee yesterday afternoon it was decided we should take a bit of colour to that seating set as well. Bright yellow was the suggestion, or lime green. That ought to wake up the neighbourhood, lol, it is currently rust brown and flaking grey! Now, if I can just get my hands on a can of magenta to brighten up a few of the plastic pots around the joint, my happiness would be complete! RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 23-07-2022 Good morning.  Sunshine is pouring in the windows, the day looking promising.  Back to near normal today after upping the water intake,  even if it meant getting up several times during the night! I've made sushi, keep the rolling firm and make sure you use sushi rice (sticky). Home made is always good    Somehow I have misplaced my mats when shifting and haven't come across where to get them again.  Might have another go at getting in the garden today,  wasn't up to it yesterday. Baking needs to happen with the last frozen cupcakes gone. My knitting also took a back seat, so will get back to that this evening.  Yum, cream puffs. Enjoy the day. Yesterday, today and tomorrow is lovely in the garden.  They self-seed very well and I had half a dozen or more (that I let grow) in my last garden  RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 23-07-2022 I have six seedlings of Yesterday Today and Tomorrow but will probably only use three. So there are three that need a home if anyone wants one. Roma, I have seen sushi mats at the supermarket or the Asian stores should have them too. OHH, I love the idea of brightly coloured outdoor furniture. You have inspired me lol. We have some metal chair frames that need new wooden slats. MrK is going to make the slats but I need to scrape the old paint off and repaint the frames. I also want to repaint the wooden seats and was thinking a pumpkin orange for them. I could also paint the metal frames the same colour. Now to convince MrK black doesn't have to be his standard outdoor furniture colour RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 23-07-2022 Morning all We have sun no doubt the k9s will ask to go for a walk they haven't asked for 6 days now  we didn't want 5o go out either Turned the left over casserole grave into soup jut kept adding veges and beef stock it made a hearty tea last night Yesterday passed by quickly with not much to show for it today might be more productive Yum love cream puffs they are also nice filled with savoury filling too. I have even manged to make gluten free ones for me (I did share with my glutinous lot).  Love the idea of bright outdoor furniture. KM those aggies sure don't want to die do they Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 23-07-2022 Morning everyone Sunny here too Yay. But cold. Yummm Cream puffs.. My sister could whip them up without batting an eyelid. My first ones were rocks. Haven't made them for ages. Today is a slow go. I took a pain med at 5 am and woke up at 9 am lol.. OOPS. I must take note if the place by our supermarket still has their Today, Tomorrow and yesterday bush. They are pretty and being blue will bring bees too. Im going to oil my over locker this morning when Im done on here. Grant Sharman is speaking at the home again on Thursday, my heart lept thinking Ohhh Ill be at the hari dressers but he will be there in the morning, so Ill skip Wednesdays visit and see him on Thursday. He's been helping one of our weightlifters get ready for the Commonwealth games. And one of the residents grand daughters is representing us in the rowing. The the singing trio are back on Friday so Ill change my time for that visit too. Its like going out with MrP again lol. Ohh I was looking at the Pattern postie last night. They have some lovely designs for the bigger lady. But I wont be making or buying anything for a while until I know when I stop shrinking. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 23-07-2022 Kiwimade, if you don't have any takers, I'll take those plants,  1 for my DIL, 1 for my FIL and 1 for me  RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 23-07-2022 (23-07-2022, 08:59 AM)kiwimade64 Wrote: I have six seedlings of Yesterday Today and Tomorrow but will probably only use three.  So there are three that need a home if anyone wants one. I did a bit of google research because alongside my pretty little metal deck table I have two of those old style white resin? Plastic? armchairs that originally had splitting webby sling seats. I replaced those with woven parachute cord supports and pop Briscoes chair pads on top for comfort in the summer. But they are weatherbeaten, and while I can scrub them down, they are both still white, and I really feel like a bit more colour in my life. So, I needed a paint that was easy for a nearly almost 70 year old crip to apply and the same application had to do all those surfaces. This Rustoleum 2 + stuff is both primer and top coat, needs only basic surface prep and apparently has good coverage and long life, though some colours are less fade proof under sun than others. But if it is easy to apply, and economical ($13 a can) I can always top it up annually.  Should be a fun project! RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 23-07-2022 Plum trees mostly pruned OHH, we have those chairs and I want to have them gone lol. We have limited space and they take up quite a bit of room. And plastic doesn't quite sit with what we have now. If your paint doesn't stick to the plastic, Resenes have a product that will help. It's a watery liquid sold in one liter tins and you apply it first after a light sanding. It will help paint stick to pretty much anything. I've used it to cover the old varnish doors and skirting boards and an ugly plastic downpipe by the kitchen. You need to let it cure for a couple of days before painting so I usually use it before stripping wallpaper and painting the window frames. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 23-07-2022 Excellent advice, thanks for that! My local hardware shop has a Resene section too, so I shall make a note and get some. The better the prep the better the results! |
