Reminds me of one of the Rainbow Warrior saboteurs, Dominique Prieur, who complained about being maltreated in prison because she wasn't supplied with her preferred skin cream.

RE: The WTF thread... - Oh_hunnihunni - 08-04-2022

But how can someone in prison run a business?

Just what I was wondering - how the hell is that possible & is it legal?

If he was making money, is that now classed as 'the proceeds of crime?' Big Grin Rolleyes

A friend on farcebook posted a link to the stuff article on misogyny this morning and I replied to it saying ' We seem to be addicted as a society to electing our leaders and then burning them at the stake.'

Facebook has advised me it has blocked viewing of the comment because it breaches their standards on violence.

Comprehension is becoming a lost art.

You need to start using Algospeak! Fascinating piece in WaPo about this:

Humans generally find ways to get around things.

RE: The WTF thread... - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-04-2022

Sheesh, my generational innocence reveals itself again. Aren't people clever! Thank you for that link, I love learning new stuff!

RE: The WTF thread... - Lilith7 - 09-04-2022

I've had a look - but I bet I'll forget half of those! Smile

RE: The WTF thread... - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-04-2022

Ah, but now we can make up our own words and no one can tell us we're losing it!

Excellent point! Big Grin Big Grin

Unbloodybeievable! Dickheads r us.
Perhaps we should all carry a small spray bottle of water for spraying them if they get too close; or perhaps a brightly coloured but harmless vegetable dye. Preferably one which lasts for weeks to allow others to steer clear of this lot.

Insurance fraud idiots

Quote:The phone advisor at an insurance company took the call: The┬áwoman on the other end of the phone┬ájust wanted to check┬áthat sheÔÇÖd┬ábeen paying her home insurance premiums, she said.

The insurance advisor told her the cover on her Auckland house, worth approximately $650,000, had lapsed a year earlier.

Thirty minutes later, she phoned back. This time, she wanted to buy a new insurance policy for the house. The insurance company's phone advisor asked whether the house had suffered any loss or damage.
No, she replied, blithely.

Later that same day, the woman made a third call to the insurance company to lodge a claim, saying a fire in the roof had damaged her house.

Perhaps he wasn't making money?  Just presenting IRD with false docs to get a refund on expenses he'd never incurred in reality. IRD would have to do an audit to find that out .

RE: The WTF thread... - Oh_hunnihunni - 24-04-2022

Trying to scam IRD is a way of making money. Which is the very basic definition of business, isn't it? Even scams are a trade of sorts, like highway robbery...
