Brain studies show idiotic youth offending reforms won't work
Posted by: Lilith7 - 28-11-2024, 02:40 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - No Replies

The idea of designating somone a ' young serious offender' seems highly unlikely to help, to put it mildly. And they know very well that bootcamps simply do not work but are clearly more concerned with support from the uninformed than with any possible damage done to those sent to these places - as long as the govt looks 'tough' they don't mind.

They're prepared to ignore the awkward fact that our brain isn't fully developed until the mid 20's, particularly risk taking & conseqences, as long as it gets them votes.. Dodgy

Half of nursing graduates miss out on jobs
Posted by: Lilith7 - 28-11-2024, 02:31 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - No Replies

And they wonder why so many head overseas; how long before nursing is no longer seen as a profession worth entering for Kiwis? Short sighted.

And if what nurses are saying is correct - that there's a shortage of nurses here - then the only way it makes any sense is by putting money ahead of healing. Angry

We have nothing like that in savings, although we do own our house. We manage to save some of our NZ Super.

She did seem to be  one of the more reasonable of the Nats. And that's so young to die, must be very tough for her family.

Patients referred for surgery not making the waiting list
Posted by: Lilith7 - 25-11-2024, 02:39 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - No Replies

Our health system is getting progressively worse. What a shame successive govts haven't seen fixing it as a priority.
But then, politicians can afford private health care, can't they & it affects many older people who mayn't be around long enough to vote this lot out... Dodgy

Life can't be much fun for them - & perhaps that is the real reason behind all the restrictions, to make life as miserable as possible. Angry
