Receive Updates for other Ms Products
Posted by: Bryan - 15-03-2025, 01:52 PM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (3)

In Win 11 Updates - Advanced Options, the facility to receive updates for other MS Products is greyed out with a message that the setting isn't available due to your organisations policies. How do I turn it on?

  The reality of PPPs
Posted by: harm_less - 15-03-2025, 12:59 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - No Replies

Great interview by Bernard Hickey yesterday which explains the workings and potential pitfalls of the PPPs our government are intending to cobble together following the recent talk fest for interested investors.

  NZ Housing "almost a trap"
Posted by: Lilith7 - 14-03-2025, 03:11 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (4)

Last year, this delightful govt in more of their 'slash & bash the poor' campaign, made it even more difficult to access emergency housing. This has worked so very well that a couple & their baby was using a hospital emergency waiting room to sleep in.

Is this still NZ? Dodgy

"We have people sleeping in cars & hospital emergency rooms & really unsafe places. They've been to MSD, & done the work they needed but still MSD are rejecting them."

That gap just isn't big enough for greeders
Posted by: Lilith7 - 13-03-2025, 10:49 AM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (4)

This is getting beyond belief; apparently, working perople are getting Far Too Much Money to suit this govt & its friends. Blatant greed is deeply unattractive.
These people appear to intend to take us all back to a time of serfdom; they are a disgrace to humanity. Dodgy

Nicola Willis wants to axe around a third of 71 rules which agencies must follow when tendering  contracts, including paying thre living wage in cleaning, catering & security guard services.

It seems they'd prefer more homeless people; because given that people are struggling now on a low wage, this could mean that the choice between paying their too high rent & actually being able to eat will become even worse.   Angry Angry

We have to make this lot of conscience free greeders a one term govt.

  Microsoft has fouled out again.
Posted by: Bryan - 12-03-2025, 06:57 AM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (10)

Microsoft has fouled out again in my opinion. Maybe it is just my Asus Z490-V, i7 10700K that is the problem. Like a few others (see Eleven forum) I was unable to install the Cumulative update K5051987, it gave up at 38% install and reverted back. Today was release KB5053598. Exactly the same result. I am not as gifted as many computer gurus to delve into workarounds to correct major problems like this ÔÇô I am more than slightly annoyed!

My only solution IMO is to replace a perfectly good mb if I want to keep up with MicrosoftÔÇÖs updates or just stay in the backwaters. But then, if I was to replace the board, whatÔÇÖs to say that I wonÔÇÖt have the same problems! Would an Asus Z590 (or a Gigabyte) be worth looking at, that way I can use the CPU and RAM from this rig.

Surgical mishap creates a moral debt?
Posted by: Oh_hunnihunni - 10-03-2025, 09:42 AM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (8)

The poor guy who lost a working lung and now has inoperable cancer in the other one reckons he is owed an organ transplant to replace the one removed by a surgical mishap.

I am a donor, and have not only donated my own blood and bone, but made that happen for my husband after his accident, so I have an interest in this matter. But I would be keen to hear other opinions...
