  Ian Mune honoured
Posted by: Lilith7 - 08-05-2024, 06:57 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (2)

Well done Ian Mune!

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment...C2NWHBUGQ/

Quote:Asked how it feels to be made a knight companion of the NZ Order of Merit in the 2024 New Year Honours list, Ian Mune bursts into a booming laugh.
ÔÇ£If itÔÇÖs used on formal occasions, thatÔÇÖll be fine - I just donÔÇÖt want my kids calling me Sir Dad,ÔÇØ he jokes.
At 82, the acting great has countless accolades to his name, from an OBE to multiple awards and Television Legend status, but he doesnÔÇÖt want to get ÔÇ£too carried away with the formalitiesÔÇØ.
ÔÇ£For theatre, IÔÇÖd say what I enjoyed most was doing the big Shakespeare parts -┬áKing Lear┬áand the others. And for movies,┬áCame a Hot Friday,┬áSleeping Dogs, and I did a lot of work on┬áGoodbye Pork Pie┬áon the script, but I wasnÔÇÖt there for the shoot."

  Changes to school lunches
Posted by: Lilith7 - 08-05-2024, 01:34 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (37)

In which David Seymour does his best to appear as the saviour of school lunches, despite having previously expressed his distaste for them...
Suddenly they're just fine - but there will be changes. Eventually no hot lunches, but  sandwiches instead.

Hmm, reeks of the old 'Chuck the peasants a crust" attitude.

https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/...er-5s.html

Quote:Seymour has been working on a proposition on the fate of the programme, however, his comments surrounding the scheme have prompted concern from schools. He has previously said it was a "huge waste of money" and "it should be gone".

In a shocking twist, Seymour has now announced the programme will continue - and in fact, be extended to some under five-year-olds.
An expert advisory group will assist the Ministry of Education in determining the details of the new model. The expert group and the Ministry will engage with representatives from affected schools.
While the programme will be universal in schools that receive it, parents and students will be able to opt-out of receiving the lunches if they wish.
The new model will also allow schools to align their ordering with attendance.
"In many schools, taxpayers are catering and paying for lunches for students who do not appear to be there to eat them. It is estimated that this cost approximately $15 million in the first three terms of 2023," the Government said.
The type of food students will receive is also likely to change.
"It will be made up of the sorts of food items thousands of mums and dads put into lunch boxes every day for their kids ÔÇô forget quinoa, couscous, and hummus, it will be more like sandwiches and fruit," Seymour said.
The range of food on offer will depend on the suppliers selected and the nutritional value of the food will be a consideration of this process.

  Oz mushroom poisoning
Posted by: Lilith7 - 07-05-2024, 03:23 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (7)

The woman suspected is to plead not guilty.

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/austral...X5J7M6NUY/

Quote:She is accused of killing her former in-laws, Don and Gail Patterson, both 70, and GailÔÇÖs sister Heather Wilkinson, 66.
All three died in hospital days after consuming an allegedly deadly mushroom meal at PattersonÔÇÖs Leongatha home, in South Gippsland, on July 29, 2023.
She is also accused of the attempted murder of her ex-husband Simon at the lunch and on three occasions dating back to 2021, and the attempted murder of WilkinsonÔÇÖs husband Ian, 68.
Patterson pleaded not guilty to all eight of her charges on Tuesday, including three counts of murder and five counts of attempted murder.

I have a Brother Printer MFC-L27130DW. I want to scan photos to my PC and am having some difficulty setting it up. There is information on Google

but it is confusing. I am sure I have done it in the past via Wi-Fi, but my old brain can't remember how I did it. Can someone point me in the right

direction please?

  Outlook 2019 & Xtramail
Posted by: Galaxy01 - 05-05-2024, 10:16 AM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (12)

I have decided to ditch Xtramail and have installed Gmail account in my Outlook 2019. It's working OK as it should.

I'll delete my Spark's Xtramail account  in the next few days.

Questions:

1.  After deleting the the my Xtramail account, of course, my Outlook 2019 will not be able to receive /send any mail, and will have to say bye, bye to xtramail.
2.  All my Outlook 2019's Inbox /Sent and all folders/ sub-folders, etc., contents should still stay where they are, right?
3.  And, I should still be able to access all old mails from Outlook 2019.
4.  As mentioned above, I have setup my gmail account in Outlook 2019 and it is working OK and continues to work, right.
5.  Is there anything I should do before deleting my Xtramail account?

Cheers.

  Passports; another money maker?
Posted by: Lilith7 - 04-05-2024, 11:11 AM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - No Replies

A woman waiting for her passport which had been delayed once due to photo being rejected, & has so far been waiting 7 weeks, has been told that if she pays an extra $206 she can have her passport sooner...

It all seems damned unfair - as well as a way to make money from those in sometimes difficult situations.
