  The Maori Party and Tamahere
Posted by: jim157 - 09-06-2024, 12:07 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (12)

im surprised there hasnt been a thread on here about this (or i have missed it)

every move the current government makes is criticised and pulled apart by the resident left leaning posters but this party of racist grifters seems to have a free ride

just imagine if the cowboy hat got his own way and had a maori parliament what they could do for themselves.......not average maori just the elite few elbows deep in the trough

cowboy hats racist wife is a prime example of why a maori parliament should never happen

i will just sit back now and wait for the apologists to give their reasons like colonialism etc

  Thousands protest fast track bill
Posted by: Lilith7 - 09-06-2024, 11:25 AM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (7)

How the hell did these destroyers get voted into power fgs.

Quote:https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/environment/5...l-auckland
"Thousands of people gathered in central Auckland have been told that they must say no to the Fast-track Approvals Bill.
The protesters - including former Green Party co-leader Russel Norman, Forest & Bird chief executive Nicola Toki and actress Robyn Malcolm - made their way down Queen Street as part of the March for Nature.
The bill will see three ministers in charge of deciding on whether major infrastructure or development projects should go ahead.
In a speech to the crowd gathered in Aotea Square, Toki addressed Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.

"This is your government, these are your ministers. Responsibility for this environmental nightmare rests with you."
The former Green Party co-leader and Greenpeace executive director Russel Norman believes the bill will be bad for the environment.
"We must stop those who would destroy nature for profit.

"The vast majority of New Zealanders - nine out of 10 people, when you survey them - say they do not want development that causes more destruction of nature."
"Expect resistance from the people of Aotearoa. There will be no seabed mining off the coast of Taranaki. There will be no new coal mines in pristine native forest.
"We will stop them - just like we stopped the oil exploration companies. We disrupted them until they gave up."
The government would be on the wrong side of history if it ignored protesters, Norman said.

Protesters interviewed by RNZ said the bill was a "dumb" decision and would take New Zealand backwards.
"It's putting ... the decision making into [the hands of] just a couple of people, " one said.
"It feels like this government's taking us back to the 1950s. It's just dumb on so many levels," said another.

Shane Jones makes it very clear that he  this govt are all about profit, with zero ceoncern for the environment. Dodgy

Mining criticism is ill-conceived and the government will look at oil and gas exploration next, Resource Minister Shane Jones says.
Critics have called the government's newly released mining strategy a love letter to off-shore mining companies.
But Jones has argued it would create regional jobs, economic resilience, and meant the country was not relying on minerals extracted under poor conditions overseas.
"Sure there are a tiny group of green cultists who want to turn the entire stewardship land into sort of some tapu estate. It is already mined, it should be made available not only for additional carbon forestry purposes, but mining, and it will be."
Criticism about mining was ill-conceived, Jones told Morning Report.
"We've got a multi-source, revenue speaking, economy and mining will play a key part. Sure I've introduced the strategy, soon I'll be elaborating how we're going to reinvigorate oil and gas.
"And the fast-track legislation is going to be an opportunity to expeditiously allocate the necessary consents to expand the mining.

Former astronaut William Anders, who took iconic Earthrise photo, killed in Washington plane crash

https://apnews.com/article/plane-crash-s...b328f7c263

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth, And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds, --and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of --Wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air...

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace Where never lark or even eagle flew -- And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God."

Pope Francis: overpopulation is a myth ÔÇö we need more children

Worth a read, the Pope says some sensible things:

Amongst a few others this one stands out:

"Lonely grandparents, discarded grandparents: this is cultural suicide. The future is built by the young and the old, together. Please, when talking about the birth rate, which is the future, let us also talk about grandparents, who are not the past, but help the future. Have children, lots of them, but also look after your grandparents."

Why Canadians are angry with their biggest supermarket

Why does this seem familiar?  Except for the eggs which are expensive here as well.

I have an old photo that has been scanned as a .pdf file. I have found a site on the web that has converted the .pdf to .jpg. The .pdf was copied at 38% which I can increase when on .jpg to 100%.

Try as I might, I cannot get the photo to save at 100%. Any ideas how I can save at 100%? I am running Windows 11 Pro.
